Q1 What inspired you to join the company?
When I was a high school student, I used to pass under the arched "Hideyoshi" sign every day on my way to school. That retro sign left a lasting impression on me. So, when I saw a job opening, I immediately thought, "Oh, it’s that Hideyoshi!" and that’s what led me to apply.
-
Q2 When do you find your work most rewarding?
It’s the moment a new product hits the shelves and I see customers picking it up and enjoying it. Creating a new product involves every single employee, and it takes a long time to bring a vision to life. When I hear a customer say, "This is delicious," I feel a deep sense of relief and joy.
-
Q3 What do you value most in your work?
Since I spend most of my time in the office, unexpected tasks often fly in out of nowhere. I make it a point not to carry everything by myself and to rely on those around me. To be honest, I tend to take too much on, so this is a personal goal I strive for every day.
-
Q4 What is your personal favorite way to enjoy sake?
Sake tastes best when I’m gathered around the dinner table with my family, sharing laughs together.
-
Q5 A message for those interested in working at Hideyoshi.
The work here is diverse and exciting—from the actual sake-making process to welcoming tourists and participating in events. There are many opportunities to be inspired. We also have chances to interact with international visitors, so my own immediate goal is to become conversational in English!

Q1 What inspired you to join the company?
While working in my hometown of Akita, I have always felt a strong desire to engage in work that can only be experienced right here. It was during that time that I was given the opportunity to join Hideyoshi (Suzuki Shuzoten), a brewery dedicated to the production and sale of sake—one of Akita's most cherished traditional cultures.
-
Q2 When do you find your work most rewarding?
I believe that being intimately involved in sake brewing is a rare privilege granted to only a few. It is a truly precious experience to be able to share the charm of sake—carefully woven by our ancestors over generations—with people today, and to feel that joy when they tell us, "This is delicious."
-
Q3 What do you value most in your work?
My goal is to build relationships of trust with our customers by being honest about my thoughts and feelings regarding our sake, staying true to my own convictions without being swayed by the opinions of others.
-
Q4 What is your personal favorite way to enjoy sake?
Personally, I often enjoy sake with fish dishes like sashimi or grilled fish. (Whenever fish is served at the dinner table, I find myself craving sake!) I also love pairing it with hot pot (nabe) when the season is right. It’s at its best when it’s packed with plenty of wild-harvested mushrooms from the mountains.
-
Q5 A message for those interested in working at Hideyoshi.
I believe Hideyoshi is currently at a turning point. With new brewers joining the team, we are evolving—blending our traditional characteristics with young, fresh sensibilities to create even more refined sake. We are looking for people who want to be part of this historic transition at a brewery that has endured for over 330 years.
